We Are Columbine

I think the benefits of people hearing our stories, what a fourteen year old freshman how they carry that with them, what that looks like.  And for me, what a teacher on that day.  It’s not just Columbine an event, its people, its kids and adults that were here.

‘When did it get back to normal?’  It never did. We had to redefine what normal is.

Learning to be adult and how to be independent was so defined by these traumatic memories. (and so I don’t really know how to be any other way.)

It was a loss, like we lost our innocence.

The expressive nature that we have is something we really need to utilize.

I think talking about it more personally is difficult.  I think it always will be.

There’s this thing that happened here that some people don’t talk about.

You were forced to grow up far too quickly and you were denied a normal high school life.
